Cara Catagnus and Mary Tomassetti have raised the hair extension business to an art form with their business, Mane Techniques LLC, in Wayne.

The two businesswomen offer everything from blowouts and hair extensions to scalp treatments and styling writes Kylee Steigelman for Main Line Today.

The stylists plan to add a bridal menu to their services as well.

Before they opened their Wayne salon, the two traveled the country to find out as much as they could about the hair styling business.

They learned all they could from a hair practitioner in Idaho and brought that knowledge back to the Main Line, which suffered from a lack of hair extension techniques.

Catagnus and Tomassetti use up-to-date techniques to serve clients, eliminating some negative side effects that other extension techniques can cause.

“[Catagnus] and I were the first stylists to bring hand-tied hair extensions to the East Coast,” Tomassetti explained.

Mane Techniques hand-tied extensions don’t use heat, glue, or chemicals, blending with hair to create a natural-looking length without damage to the hair or scalp.

“There are so many artistic aspects that go into it. Instead of just a hair salon, it’s a skill and ability,” Tomassetti said.
