The Kerezsi brothers have decided that 70 years is enough. They are shutting down their junkyard and auto business, Lou’s Auto Parts and Service, in Trainer, writes Peg DeGrassa for the Daily Times.

The last day of business is Feb. 3.

Brothers Lou, Jimmy, and Tom, along with their late brother David, worked with their late father, Lou Sr., at the family business from the time they were young.

Louis Kerezsi Sr. opened Lou’s Auto Service in 1954.

When he passed away in 1983, his four sons took over for the next 40 years.

Then last summer, David ”Skeeter” Kerezsi passed away.

His death had a profound effect on the remaining brothers.

“All four of us brothers worked in this business, side by side,” Jimmy Kerezsi shared. “Skeeter’s passing last year really put a damper on everything and was a wake-up call to us.

“We don’t want to work until the day that we die, like he did. Plus, without him, things are just not the same. My brothers and I always said that we’d only sell if all four of us wanted to sell.”

See what other factors influenced their decision to close, and find out who has bought the junkyard and auto service locations in the Daily Times.
