Big Brothers Big Sisters and Persevere on Purpose volunteers assembled and distributed holiday care packages to family in need throughout the Philadelphia region.

Families in our region that struggle throughout the year can find it particularly isolating during the holiday season, but they are not alone, thanks to the efforts of Big Brothers Big Sisters and Persevere on Purpose.

Volunteers recently spent the day out of Chichester packing, loading, and delivering more than 150 community holiday care packages to seven counties in our area, writes Cheyenne Corin for Fox 29.

This is the fourth year of the event, started during the pandemic.

“There’s still a lot of people struggling, just being able to provide food on the table for their families. So, just being able to give families a little bit that they can stretch out goes a long way,” said Founder of Persevere on Purpose, Torri Grice.

The care packages include canned food, games, household items, and clothing.

“It’s just been such an overwhelming experience for not only all of us but to see the families’ faces when they receive the gifts; it’s just priceless,” Grice continued.

The goal is to give participating families a better holiday experience. The families are already part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program.
