More Chicken for Delaware County? East Coast Wings Is Scouting Locations
A North Carolina restaurant chain whose specialty is chicken wings is revisiting expansion plans into the Philadelphia area from before the pandemic that included a location in Springfield along Baltimore Pike, writes Emma Dooling for Philadelphia Business Journal.
East Coast Wings + Grill has 55 wing sauce flavors with seven different heat indexes. There are also burgers, sandwiches, salads, and tacos.
It had to halt its growth plans when the pandemic came along, but four years later, it’s back on track and hopes to make Philadelphia a target market.
“It’s time now to focus on the marketplace, to grow it out,” said Mark Lyso, senior vice president of brand development at East Coast Wings + Grill.
The chain plans to open at least five locations in and around Philadelphia In the next three to four years. Currently, it has one restaurant in Northeast Philadelphia.
The Winston-Salem-based restaurant chain has more than 50 locations in Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and Philadelphia.
Storefronts average 2,800 square feet. It has carryout and delivery services but does not open drive-thrus. Stores typically employ between 30 and 40 people.
