Strath Haven High School head coach Kevin Clancy has been named a Philadelphia Eagles Coach of the Week.

The Philadelphia Eagles have named Strath Haven High School Head Football Coach Kevin Clancy its Coach of the Week, writes Owen Boyle for PhiladelphiaNews.net.

Clancy is finishing his 39th season as a coach in the Philadelphia area and his 33rd coaching season with Strath Haven.

Clancy was an assistant coach at Archbishop Carroll back in 1975 after graduating from West Chester University.

By 1991, Clancy grabbed the head coach position at Strath Haven.

“I was looking for a good public school opportunity,” said Clancy, who is also the health and physical education teacher at the school. “It seemed like the right fit, and they felt the same way, so it all worked out.”

He credits the players, staff and administration at Strath Haven for keeping him inspired.

Clancy’s team made it into the PIAA playoffs this year with a 9-1 record. They faced Great Valley on Nov. 3.

He encourages his players to compete in other sports and to do other activities like band or theater.

“It shows that the kids can be multi-dimensional,” he said.

Clancy has sent six of his players to the NFL, including Bert Grossman, who played for the Eagles in 1994.
