Crozer Health workers, including nurses, ratified a one-year extension of their contract while the parent company of the healthcare system looks for a new buyer.

With the potential sale of the Crozer Health System in the balance, more than 750 nurses and other healthcare workers ratified a one-year contract extension, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The contract extension was ratified by the Crozer Chester Nurses Association, the Crozer Chester Paramedics Association; the Crozer Medical Professionals, and the Crozer Chester Society of Pharmacists.

The workers are all part of the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals. (PASNAP).

Wage increases averaging 10 percent are part of the extensions.

“These contracts will absolutely attract new caregivers to work in this health care system that means so much to not only the community but to the health care professionals who care for these patients,” says Peggy Malone, president of the Crozer-Chester Nurses Association.

Crozer officials declined to comment.

Recently, Crozer Health’s parent company Prospect Medical Holdings, The Foundation for Delaware County, and the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office agreed to pause legal proceedings for 270 days so Prospect could focus on selling Crozer Health.

PASNAP officials said the extensions bridge the gap between Crozer Health’s current owner and the next to ensure that experienced healthcare professionals stay on the job during the transition.
