Aqua Pennsylvania is replacing approximately 13,150 feet of aging water main in Nether Providence, Springfield, and Newtown townships. The company is upgrading aging water mains with ductile iron water mains, which are more durable and comprised of nearly 90 percent recycled materials.

This investment is part of Aqua’s continuing infrastructure improvement program to replace decades-old water and wastewater infrastructure around the country. The new water mains will reduce the potential for main breaks and discolored water and will improve water flow for customers throughout Delaware County.

Recently, crews in Nether Providence Township began replacing 3,500 feet of aging 8-inch water mains with new ductile iron water mains on Beatty Road from Woodridge Lane to Baltimore Pike.

In Springfield Township, crews are replacing 4,700 feet of aging 8-inch water mains with new ductile iron water mains on the following streets:

  • Kerr Lane from Spring Valley Road to Locust Avenue
  • Spring Valley Road from Woodland to West Leamy avenues
  • West Leamy Avenue from Spring Valley to Forest roads
  • Duncan Lane from Kerr to Snyder lanes
  • Snyder Lane from Kerr to the end of Snyder Lane

Crews are also at work in Newtown Township replacing 4,950 feet of aging 8-inch water mains with new ductile iron water mains on the following streets:

  • Hickory Lane, Main and Chestnut streets between College and Farview avenues
  • Farview Avenue from Chestnut Street to Hickory Lane

Aqua’s main replacement work contributes to the company’s overarching commitment to providing quality, reliable drinking water, and safe wastewater solutions to customers.
