'Another Man's Trash' from Swarthmore filmmaker Dennis Jeantet and John Giordano of South Philadelphia looks at the growing crisis of Philadelphia homelessness.

Dennis Jeantet of Swarthmore and John Giordano of South Philadelphia are shining a spotlight on Philadelphia’s growing homelessness crisis with their new comedy film, “Another Man’s Trash,” writes Peg DeGrassa for the Daily Times.

A debut screening is scheduled Sept. 15 at the City Life Church in Philadelphia.

Jeantet is a 1998 graduate of Ridley High School and has appeared in “House of Cards,” “What Death Leaves Behind” and other series and films.

Both he and Giordano appear in the film, along with Brian Anthony Wilson, Catherine LaSalle, and the renowned comedic actor from Seinfeld, John O’Hurley.

The film uses comedy to highlight Philadelphia’s homelessness issue. It centers on a once-successful Philadelphia businessman who encounters an unexpectedly gifted homeless man.

“There are some really good people living on the street,” Jeantet commented. “There’s a misconception that every individual who is homeless is either battling a drug addiction or living with mental illness. However, there are a lot of homeless individuals who are just down on their luck.”

The film’s release has secured a nomination for Best Comedy at the Tarzana International Film Festival.

A portion of the film’s proceeds will support Philabundance, a nonprofit food bank serving Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley.
