Lizzi Shacklett was crowned Miss Pennsylvania Teen

Lizzie Shacklett of Radnor can now add being crowned Miss Pennsylvania Teen to her long list of accomplishments, writes Ben Silver for Main Line Today.

At just 15, Shacklett has placed seventh in the world for Irish Dance, founded a nonprofit, and wrote a children’s book.

In January 2024, Shacklett will compete at the national level at the Miss America Teen event, representing Pennsylvania.

The Agnes Irwin School student has received $12,000 in scholarships from The Miss America program, most recently for the Overall Talent Award and Evening Gown Award.

Shacklett is a World Medal holder in Irish Dance, placing seventh in April 2023 at the World Irish Dance Championships in Montreal, Canada. She also finished in the top five at United States Nationals and All-Scotland Championships.

A voracious reader, Shacklett is also dedicated to ending the literacy gap.  She has collected and distributed books to organizations supporting literacy for children without adequate academic resources.

Shacklett’s nonprofit, Literacy is Lit: Finding and Filling the Literacy Gap has donated over 7,000 books across Pennsylvania.

Her own book, “I Read Before Bed” is a picture book for young readers about the value of discovery through reading.
