Eagleville pastry chef Colleen Kriebel has another award to add to her collection of accolades. The Plymouth Meeting native and owner of Kriebel’s Custom Bakery in Eagleville, writes M. English for Main Line Media News.

She and her team of Central Montco Technical High School alums won first place in Philadelphia Dessert Wars for their espresso-soaked, almond-flavored French opera cake.

“I chose to make (it) because I, personally, love this flavor combination. I figured that after the judges had eaten over 50 dessert samples from each team, they could use a little coffee pick-me-up” she tells The Times Herald.

Her team cried tears of joy over their win. They’re now raising money through GoFundMe to compete in the nationals in Atlanta at the end of the year.

After graduating from her technical high school, Kriebel went on to matriculate on a scholarship at the elite Culinary Institute of America in New York. After school, she worked as an assistant pastry chef at East Norriton Catering and worked for Aux Petits Delices in Wayne.

“If someone had told me in 1999 that I would go on to have so much success, I’d have thought they were crazy,” she says.

Throughout her 25-year career, Kriebel has earned a collection of awards for her baking expertise.
