Clock Tower is ready to bring students to the former Glen Mills School as early as July 1, but West Chester Area School District thinks that opening should be delayed a year, writes Alex Rose for the Daily Times.

“We seek your assistance now before the mistake that Glen Mills eventually became is repeated with Clock Tower,” the district stated in a May 26 letter to Dr. Khalid N. Mumin, acting secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and Valarie A. Arkoosh, acting Secretary of the Department of Human Services.

It also wants adequate space freed up for its students and for the school to apply for a private academic school license.

Clock Tower has fewer students and is not the same entity as Glen Mills, stated Arkoosh and Mumin in a response letter.

Glen Mills was closed and its licenses revoked in 2019 after an investigation revealed decades of alleged student abuse.

Clock Tower Schools applied to reopen with a residential and day facility for up to 25 children court-ordered to receive treatment.

It said it is taking a more “trauma-informed” approach and is required to take steps so alleged abuses of the past aren’t repeated.
