A Montgomery County school district is officially recognized for having the best music education in the United States. North Penn School District was designated among the “Best Communities for Music Education” for the 11th year in a row, reported Justin Heinze for The Montgomeryville-Lansdale Patch.

The program awards school districts based on efforts by teachers and staff to provide quality music education. Schools qualify based on their funding, facilities, and graduation requirements.

The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation is responsible for designating the awards. The California-based program started in 2006 and is funded through donations and trade association activities. The foundation supports grants and scholarships.

The NAMM foundation aims to advance public interest and participation in the musical arts through charity, programs, and research.

North Penn school district covers the townships of Lansdale, Hatfield, North Wales, Upper Gwynedd, and Montgomeryville.
