The organic community garden at Subaru Park has yielded more than 5,000 pounds of produce for food relief organizations.

The Philadelphia UnionSubaru partnership has netted benefits to the environment, local schools, and the community, writes Grant Whittington for Triple Pundit.

“When we teamed up with the Philadelphia Union, our biggest priority was to engage with our shared communities in the greater Philadelphia area and support the causes that mean the most to them,” said Alan Bethke, senior vice president of marketing for Subaru of America. “Over three years of partnership, we’ve done just that.”

One project fans can get behind is the planting of 25 trees for each goal scored by the Union through the nonprofit One Tree Planted.

The soccer team’s 79-goal success in 2022 has meant 1,975 trees planted in the greater Philadelphia area and in Pennsylvania.

Subaru Park’s organic community garden has generated more than 5,000 pounds of produce for food relief since 2020, even as the park itself worked to achieve zero-landfill status in October 2021, diverting 920,0356 pounds of waste from landfills.

The partnership has supported pet adoptions, and it adopted 20 classrooms at nearby Stetser Elementary School, providing school supply kits, learning materials, and sports equipment.

Its Gear for Good initiative donated more than 700 soccer gear items to Philadelphia children.
