See How Delaware County Ranks for Tax Refunds in Pennsylvania

This tax season up to 70 percent of Americans expect a tax refund, according to IRS data.

So how does Delaware County stack up compared to the other counties in the Philadelphia region as far as how many of us will receive refunds and what the average refund will be?

Delaware County came in third among counties in the state receiving the highest amount of tax refund in 2023. An average per-person refund of $3,218 will go out to 216,930 people.

By comparison, there are 55,450 people who will owe the IRS an average of $7,665.  

Chester County ranked among the places in Pennsylvania receiving the largest refund, with 181,170 people receiving an average of $3,348.

There are 65,040 who will owe taxes averaging $10,331.

Montgomery County came in second, with 307,920 people receiving an average refund of $3,289.

There are 98,820 who will owe taxes averaging $9,023.

For refunds, Bucks County came in just below Delaware County, with 244,930 people receiving an average of $3,140.

There are 74,360 who will owe taxes averaging $8,384.

The study divided the total amount of money refunded to residents by the number of refunds given out in each county.
