Aqua Pennsylvania announced that a $1.5 million main replacement project is underway in Haverford Township. This investment is part of Aqua’s continuing infrastructure improvement program to improve service and reliability for customers on the Main Line.

Crews recently began working to replace 4,808 feet of aging 6-inch water mains with new 8-inch ductile iron water mains, which are more durable and are comprised of about 90 percent recycled metal materials.

The work is taking place on the following streets:

  • Woodcrest Avenue between Haverford and Morris roads
  • Morris Road between Point Reading Road and Ardmore Avenue
  • Oakford Avenue between Point Reading Road and Aubrey Avenue
  • Georges Lane between Morris Road and Oakford Avenue
  • Saint Mary’s Road between Aubrey Avenue and #2702 Saint Mary’s Road

Aqua’s work is expected to be completed in May. Final road restoration is expected to be completed by September, weather permitting.

The new water mains will reduce the potential for main breaks, discolored water and will improve water flow in the area. This project is part of Aqua’s continuing infrastructure improvement program that replaced 33 miles of aging main in Delaware County in 2022.
