February’s Black History Month is an opportunity to broaden world view.

In that spirit, Visit PA recently recommended statewide businesses worthy of a visit for the February commemoration of the Black entrepreneurial spirit. They were primarily based in the Philadelphia region, including Delaware County.

But one, a bit further away but well worth the trip, is in Lancaster.

Visiting it, even in March or later (beyond the Black History Month timeframe) is a unique experience of Black culture.

It can also bring collar-county residents in proximity to the wealth of day-trip opportunities in Lancaster County.

The Black-owned business noted by Visit PA is A Concrete Rose, 910 S. Duke Street, Suite 105, Lancaster, Pa.

It’s about an hour’s drive from Lima, well worth the commute.

A Concrete Rose is one of downtown Southeast Lancaster’s hippest new hangouts, reports Visit PA.

It’s a bookstore, micro-winery, and live entertainment venue all under one roof.

The shelves hold books and art created by authors and artists of African descent throughout the world. They’ve been curated for sale with the goal of providing the local community with the opportunity to learn about different cultures and freely express themselves.
