HBO’s “Mare of Easttown” continues to travel the award circuit, this time taking a Critics Choice Award Sunday for “Best Limited Series.”

“Mare of Easttown” regained its footing after losing to the Netflix drama “The Queen’s Gambit” at the Emmys last September, writes Kyle Buchanan for The New York Times.

That wasn’t a problem for its star, Kate Winslet, who took the best actress award in a limited series at the Emmys and again at Critics Choice for her role as Detective Mare Sheehan.

‘Mare’s’ Julianne Nicholson and Evan Peters also took Emmys in the best supporting acting categories.

Nicholson, Peters, and Jean Smart were nominated for a Critics Choice Award in the best supporting categories.

“We dedicate this award to the mothers out there because we certainly put you through hell in our show,” said Mark Roybal, an executive producer on the show.

“Mare of Easttown’s” realistic look at the people of Delaware County generated a large following.

At one point during filming, Winslet requested that “a bulgy bit of belly” in a sex scene with Guy Pearce not be cut. She also sent the show’s promo poster back twice because it was “too retouched.”
