Aqua Pennsylvania has announced that $5.8 million in infrastructure improvement projects are underway or have recently been completed in Middletown, Springfield, and Marple townships to improve service reliability for customers throughout Delaware County.

In Middletown Township, crews are working on a $3.1 million project replacing 5,737 feet of aging six- and eight-inch water mains with new eight-, 12-, and 16-inch ductile iron water mains on South New Middletown Road between Baltimore Pike and Pembroke Drive.

Aqua’s work is expected to be completed by April, weather permitting.

Crews in Springfield Township recently completed a $1.6 million project replacing 6,821 feet of aging six-inch water mains with new six- and eight-inch ductile iron water mains on the following streets:

  • Ballymore Road between Saxer Avenue and East Woodland Avenue
  • Prospect, Rolling and Wyndmoor roads between East Leamy and East Woodland avenues
  • Wayfield and Thornridge roads between Wyndmoor and South Rolling roads
  • Leamy Avenue between Wyndmoor and Ballymore roads

Final road restoration is expected to be completed during the second quarter of this year, pending township coordination.

In Marple Township, crews recently began work on a $1.1 million project to replace 4,656 feet of aging six- and eight-inch water mains with new six- and eight-inch ductile iron water mains on the following streets:

  • Paxon Hollow Road between Jamestown Road and west of Worthington Drive
  • Pine Tree Drive between both ends of Paxon Hollow Road

Aqua’s work is expected to be completed by March, weather permitting. Final road restoration is expected to be completed in the summer of this year, pending township coordination.

These projects are part of Aqua’s continuing infrastructure improvement program. The new water mains will reduce the potential for main breaks and discolored water and improve water flow in the area.
