Penn State Brandywine in Middletown is inducting its third class of former student-athletes, coaches, and administrators into its athletic hall of fame this winter, reports news.psu.edu.

The 2022 class of inductees includes former men’s basketball student-athlete Jeff Danzi, men’s ice hockey student-athlete Nick Gallo, tennis student-athlete and coach Lloyd Vernon, and women’s basketball student-athlete and coach Cara Zibelman.

The four will be honored Jan. 22, 2022 during the men’s and women’s basketball doubleheader against Penn State Schuylkill. They will be officially inducted in a campus ceremony later that day.

Danzi was a high-scoring guard in the 1992-94 season at the campus.  He played under hall of fame coach Bill Wiley.

Danzi led the Penn State Delaware County (now Brandywine) Lions to a 24-0 regular-season record, the only time in the team’s history that it was undefeated, a season that took them to the conference tournament semifinals.

Danzi completed his career as the Lions’ all-time leading scorer, at 964 points.

Gallo was on the club ice hockey team from 2001-2006 and was team captain during his final four seasons on campus.

Gallo played 126 games, recorded 36 goals and 80 assists.

He helped bring the Lions to four conference championships and one league title, with a 91-28-7 record.

He was the team’s leading scorer in the 2004-05 season when the Lions had their first-ever conference title.

Gallo graduated from Penn State in 2006 with a communications degree.

Vernon was a championship-winning student-athlete and coach at Penn State Delaware County and Penn State Brandywine.

He was a tennis student-athlete from 1972-74, winning a Commonwealth Campus Athletic Conference singles championship.

He returned to the Brandywine campus in 2010 to serve as head men’s and women’s tennis coach, where he stayed for six seasons.

He was 2011 Penn State University Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, leading Brandywine to an undefeated season and the conference championship.

He led Brandywine to more than 40 match victories as a coach and directed over 20 individual conference champions.

Zibelman was the third-leading scorer, with 1,342 points, in the history of the Brandywine women’s basketball team when she starred with them from 2004-08.

Zibelman was a First Team All-Penn State University Athletic Conference guard in 2005-06 and 2006-07. She helped Brandywine take the 2006-07 PSUAC championship, scoring 21 points in the title game victory over Penn State Schuylkill.

She graduated in 2008 with a degree in elementary education, returning to Brandywine as an assistant coach.

After graduating in 2008 with a degree in elementary education, Zibelman returned to Brandywine as an assistant coach. She helped Brandywine win a second conference championship during the 2010-11 season.
