You might say Old City’s popular ice cream shop, Franklin Fountain, is coming home to Delaware County.

Owners Eric and Ryan Berley, who grew up in Media, have opened a Franklin Fountain outlet at Bonnie’s Wonder Gardens in Lansdowne, writes Sinead Cummings for phillyvoice.com.

The outlet opened yesterday.

The Sugar Shack from Spruce Street Harbor Park was taken apart and reconstructed next to the garden center at 233 Scottdale Road.  It will be open July through September, and for winter holiday pop-ups.

Eric and Ryan Berley are friends of Wonder Gardens owner Bonnie McShane. She’s been supplying Franklin Fountain for more than 10 years.

She offered her business as a location for the Sugar Shack to the two friends and they took her up on it.

The Lansdowne Sugar Shack will have ice cream, frozen custard, ice cream bars, ice cream sandwiches and root beer floats with Reading Draft Birch Beer.

The Shack will be open Thursday through Sunday 2 to 9 p.m. Hours may change depending on the community response.

The brothers opened Franklin Fountain in 2004, building an authentic ice cream parlor in a turn of the century building at 116 Market Street.
