Only 35 New, Positive COVID-19 Cases Reported in Delaware County for May 25

Five new COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County have been reported Tuesday, May 25, according to the Chester County Health Department.

The health department is reporting a total of 1,437 COVID-19-related deaths in Delaware County.

Of those, 838 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes.

Three fatalities were reported in Upper Darby, 1 was in Chester and 1 was in Ridley.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 48 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

New cases

The Chester County Department of Health site reported 37 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Delaware County Tuesday, May 25. Total cases are 48,721.

Prospect Park continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 740, affecting 11.39 percent of its 6,492 population.

Upper Darby has the most total cases, with 7,246 cases reported, or 8.73 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

Negative tests

The county has had 245,278 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 93.59 percent recovery rate.

  • Under 10: 2,473 cases
  • 10 to 19: 5,898 cases
  • 20 to 29: 8,160 cases
  • 30 to 39: 7224 cases
  • 40 to 49: 6.555 cases
  • 50 to 59: 7,320 cases
  • 60 to 69: 5,637 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,783 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,670 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, May 25, there were 906 new cases of COVID-19 statewide.  Total cases now number 1,197,468.

The state is reporting 33 COVID-19 deaths for Tuesday, May 25. Total deaths are 27,085.
