Energy Transfer has granted $17,484 to the Twin Valley Fire Department in Elverson to aid in the purchase of equipment that will enhance its firefighting capabilities.

Energy Transfer is one of the largest and most diversified energy logistics companies in the nation, with approximately 3,000 miles of pipeline infrastructure and gathering systems in Pennsylvania.

“Accepting this grant from Energy Transfer is a huge help for the department, especially during the pandemic, which has caused us to lose many of our fundraising and revenue streams,” said Twin Valley Fire Chief Pete Hornberger. “We are truly grateful for Energy Transfer’s support of us and first responders and for helping us protect our community.”

The grant will aid in the purchase of five full sets of turnout gear, which include a coat, pants, and hood, as well as additional hoods, gloves, helmets, helmet fronts, and extrication-bloodborne pathogen gloves. Turnout gear is required by the National Fire Protection Association to be replaced every 10 years.

The Energy Transfer First Responder Fund provides grants to help further the primary mission of first-responder organizations, including local fire departments; emergency medical services; county emergency management agencies; county, regional, and local police departments; and other eligible agencies. Grants are determined based on a competitive application and review process, and written applications are accepted on a rolling basis for the following cycle.

“Providing grants to first-responder organizations is one way we are able to show our support for the men and women who protect our communities every day,” said Joe McGinn, Energy Transfer’s Vice President of Public Affairs. “We are proud to work alongside Chief Hornberger and TVFD and look forward to a continued partnership in the way of pipeline safety trainings and other support.”
