10 New COVID-19-Related Deaths Reported Wednesday in Delaware County

Ten COVID-19-related deaths were reported in Delaware County for Wednesday, March 24.

The Chester County Health Department is reporting a total of 1,332 fatalities in the county.

Of those, 818 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the latest statistics from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 46 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

New fatalities were:

2 from Ridley

1 from Haverford

1 from Upper Darby

1 from Yeadon

1 from Nether Providence

1 from Aston

1 from Clifton Heights

1 from Norwood

1 from Colwyn

There were 164 new positive COVID-19 cases in Delaware County reported Wednesday, March 23. Total cases are now 40,663.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 1,124, or 9.77 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 6,090 cases reported, or 7.34 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 876 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 215,267 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 91.32 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Wednesday, March 24, are:

  • Under 10: 1,683 cases
  • 10 to 19: 4.375 cases
  • 20 to 29: 6,818 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 5,929 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 5,503 cases
  • 50 to 59: 6,335 cases
  • 60 to 69: 4,965 cases
  • 70 to 79: 2,531 cases
  • 80 and over: 2,529 cases

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, March 24, there were 4,667 new cases of COVID-19 statewide.  Total cases now number 996,617

The state is reporting 48 additional COVID-19 deaths for Wednesday, March 24. Statewide death toll is now 24,876.
