Positive COVID Cases Up by 390 in Delaware County, But No Deaths Reported

Delaware County saw an increase of 390 reported positive cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, Dec. 10.

Total positive cases reported Wednesday was 22,694.  The Chester County Health Department reported 23,084 positive cases Thursday.

No new COVID-19 deaths were reported, with the total remaining at 888.

Of those, 645 were in long-term care facilities and personal care homes, according to the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 40 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. Total cases are 829, or 7.22 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases, with 3,621 cases reported, or 4.36 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 510 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 164,676people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting a 67.05 percent recovery rate.

Cases broken down by age groups, as reported Thursday, Dec. 10 are:

  • Under 10: 701 cases
  • 10 to 19: 2,201 cases
  • 20 to 29: 4,150 cases  
  • 30 to 39: 3,400 cases  
  • 40 to 49: 3,154 cases
  • 50 to 59: 3,610 cases
  • 60 to 69: 2,762 cases
  • 70 to 79: 1,454 cases
  • 80 and over: 1,651

Pennsylvania data

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Dec. 9, that there were 11,972 new cases of COVID-19 statewide, with the total number of cases now at 45,7289.

There were 248 new COVID-19 deaths reported statewide, with total deaths for Thursday, Dec. 10, reported at 11,762.
