Delaware County Allocates $4 Million in CARES Funds to Help Businesses Cope With Restrictions

By

Up to $4 million in promised relief is coming from Delaware County to help restaurants, bars, gyms and yoga studio owners, reports Delaware Valley Journal via patch.com.

Money allocated through available CARES funds will help ease the pain of the latest set of COVID restrictions implemented by the state.

Delaware County Council unanimously approved the distribution at its Dec. 16 meeting.

Funds will be distributed through the Economic Development Oversight Board, with checks going out to local businesses by mid-January.

“The point here is to get this money over to small businesses in a quick turnaround,” said County Council member Elaine Paul Schaefer. “We want to help them survive this very difficult period and be able to take care of their bills.”

Businesses are invited to apply for between $5,000 and $40,000 now until Dec. 29.

Small businesses can apply at the Delco Strong website and by clicking here

Applications can also be dropped off at the Delaware County Commerce Center, 100 6th Street, No. 100, Media..

Businesses that have previously qualified for CARES funds are pre-qualified.

“You still have to apply and fill out the form, but you already qualify.”
