55 New Cases of COVID-19 Reported Thursday in Delaware County for a Total of 11,935

There were 55 new cases of COVID-19 reported Thursday, Oct. 8 for Delaware County since cases were last reported Tuesday. Total number of cases is now 11,935 according to the Chester County Health Department.

No additional COVID-19-related deaths were reported in Delaware County.  The total stands at 799.

Of those, 615 were in long term care facilities and personal care homes, according to data from the Chester County Health Department.

COVID-19 fatalities have been reported in 40 of the county’s 49 municipalities.

Yeadon Borough continues to have the highest percentage of population being affected by the virus. It has 546 cases, affecting 4.76 percent of its 11,471 population.

Upper Darby has the most cases reported, at 1,831, affecting 2.21 percent of Upper Darby’s 82,993 population.

There are 302 cases still under investigation, to which no municipality has yet been assigned.

The county has had 114, 011 people test negative for the virus. The health department is reporting an 84.37 percent recovery rate.

  • 10 to 19: 956 cases (up 7)
  • 20 to 29: 2,176 cases (up 11)
  • 30 to 39: 1,629 cases (up 10)

  • 50 to 59: 1,800 cases (up 5)
  • 60 to 69: 1,442 cases (up 6)
  • 70 to 79: 872 cases (up 3)
  • 80 and over: 1,309 cases (up 2)

The Pennsylvania Department of Health confirmed as of noon, Oct. 8, that there were 1,376 new cases of COVID-19 across the state since statistics were last reported Wednesday, bringing the statewide total to 167,928.

There were 27 new deaths reported statewide as of
Wednesday, Oct. 8 since these statistics were last reported Wednesday, with total deaths listed at.8,299.
