PIT in Nether Providence Offering a Degree in Cannabis Studies

By

The Pennsylvania Institute of Technology in Nether Providence has established a Cannabis Studies program, writes Kathleen E. Carey for the Daily Times.

You can earn two associate degrees– one in Cannabis Business and one in Cannabis Health Therapy.

The course was prompted by a 445 percent increase last year in the cannabis workforce. About 410,000 jobs will be added in 2021.

Lou Giannotti, a trained pharmacist, will run the program. He has served as director of operations for Holistic Industries, maker of Liberty Cannabis.

“The demand for people who are educated and passionate about this industry is extremely strong.

“There are career opportunities for dispensary management, security personnel, horticultural professionals, transportation specialists and many other yet to be determined areas of this growing business.

“PIT recognizes this need and will provide highly qualified individuals to fill these positions”,  he said.

The Health Therapy course focuses on medicinal marijuana. There are 23 diagnosis in Pennsylvania that allow medical marijuana use.

The Cannabis Business program, shows students how to start their own cannabis-related business or work for a dispensary or grow operation.

Pennsylvania Institute of Technology’s next semester begins Oct. 5.
