Kobe Bryant’s Childhood Wynnewood Home with Original Basketball Hoop Just Listed
Kobe Bryant’s childhood home in Wynnewood with its Black Mamba’s old basketball hoop still in the driveway has hit the market, writes Shanna McCarriston for the CBS Sports.
The five-bedroom colonial home which is a unique piece of sports history has an asking price of $899,900.
The LA Lakers legend who tragically died in a helicopter crash earlier this year moved into the house with his family in 1991, after spending his early childhood in Italy where his father played basketball. The 13-year-old Bryant attended Lower Merion High School for the next four years where he rose to stardom. After graduation, he then decided to forgo college and instead to move directly into the NBA.
The home was sold in 2008 by Bryant’s parents for $510,000. The current owner, Kate Bayer, said it was a thrill to live in a home that once belonged to the basketball giant.
“When we moved in, everyone – and I mean everyone – asked, ‘Do you know who lived there?'” said Bayer. “They were excited. The mailman, trash collectors, every neighbor … people walking down the street.”
