State of Elkins Park Mansion No Longer a Mystery Thanks to Crafty YouTubers
Despite its incredible history, the 110-room Lynnewood Hall in Elkins Parks has been sitting empty for nearly 25 years, writes Jenn Ladd for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The former home of Peter A.B. Widener and family, two of whom died on the Titanic, was once known for its opulence both inside and out.
But today, the run-down mansion is guarded by wrought-iron gates and a loud dog. The state of its interior was also shrouded in mystery as its current owner First Korean Church pastor Richard S. Yoon keeps the conditions hidden.
However, a growing number of crafty YouTube photographers and videographers have been finding their way inside the home. They present their photos and recordings for the world to see on the video streaming platform.
Liam O’Mara, a Lansdale native, is among the lucky videographers who got the groundskeeper to give them permission to enter the property and take them on a short tour of the mansion.
“There’s, like, no broken windows in there, which kind of amazes me,” said O’Mara. “And another thing is graffiti. This is definitely the only place I’ve been that has zero graffiti.”
