Delaware County offers many options for outdoor exploration and enjoyment, including beautiful historic and artsy sites surrounded by stunning nature making it the perfect place for a fall road trip, writes Lea Lane for Forbes.

Beginning at Swarthmore College, home of The Scott Arboretum, drive through the campus to admire the beautiful nature or stretch your legs on the many hiking trails.

Next, drive to Linvilla Orchards to enjoy some fresh fruit, honey, cheese, and pies, all grown or made on the premises.

There are ample picnic opportunities at Rose Tree Park and Ridley Creek State Park, which also houses Tyler Arboretum.

Now is also the time to visit “Wyeth Country” and take in the landscape portrayed in many paintings by the famous generational trio, N.C., Andrew, and Jamie Wyeth.

Enjoy hundreds of their works at the nearby Brandywine River Museum of Art.

Also, be sure not to miss the nearby River Trail.

Wine aficionados are in for a treat at Penns Woods Winery, where they can sample wines while taking in the scenic views of the vineyard.
