What happens when a nonprofit’s most important annual fundraiser is closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic?

That is the situation faced by the nation’s approximately 1.5 million nonprofits. The coronavirus has altered the lives of every American, and many businesses – including nonprofits – are facing dire economic repercussions as a result.

“Many nonprofits are finding new, innovative ways to bring their social, cultural, and artistic benefits to the public,” said Anthony C. Weagley, President and CEO of Malvern Bank, National Association. “And now, more than ever, individuals and corporations need to recognize the benefits these nonprofits provide and support them.”

One local nonprofit that has been impacted by the pandemic is Historic Yellow Springs, a nearly 300-year-old village located in Chester Springs. Every year since 1973, Yellow Springs has held a spring Art Show and Sale. In response to the coronavirus, this year’s show is being previewed with an online show, with Malvern Bank as a major sponsor. Click here to view the more than 150 pieces of art.

“This year’s show features paintings, drawings, graphics, and three-dimensional works in a variety of styles and media by dozens of artists,” said Karen Walter, Executive Director of Historic Yellow Springs. “After 46 consecutive years of presenting this Art Show to tens of thousands of visitors, we knew we couldn’t just take a one-year hiatus. So, the online option was ideal – for now. We hope to present our 47th Annual Art Show on site later this year.”

Artists from across the country are participating in the online show, which has been online since April 24. Additional galleries will be added to the website on a regular basis as new works from the artists become available.

All proceeds from the show benefit arts, education, historic preservation, and environmental protection of the historic village of Yellow Springs.
