5 Delaware County Healthcare Workers Honored in Main Line Today Regional Tribute

Nemours Children's Health has partnered with Crozer Health to provide pediatric services.

Five Delaware County “healthcare heroes” were part of a regional tribute to healthcare providers, as written by Melissa Jacobs for Main Line Today.

Kevin Carr is a paramedic at Riddle Hospital in Media. The 25-year first responder started off as a firefighter.

“I had zero interest in riding on an ambulance,” Carr admits. “Eventually, I gave it a try. From my first call, I was hooked.”

Maryanne Martin-Snyder is a Nurse Navigator for the Community Care Program at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Darby. She helps residents with mental health disorders and serves on the Delaware County Suicide Prevention and Awareness Task Force.

Atom Sarkar is the director of Stereotactic, Functional and Epilepsy Surgery at Crozer Chester Medical Center. He performs high-tech surgeries to reduce the symptoms from epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, brain tumors and complex spinal injuries.

Lt. Michael Savitski and Det. Sgt. John Newell of the Newtown Township Police Department saved the life of a 2-year-old girl with CPR after she nearly drowned.

Christine Webster is a Certified Recovery Specialist, PEARL, Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Chester

She connects pregnant women and new mothers with doctors, transportation, food pantries, and support groups to cope with substance abuse issues.
