There are 61 zombie homes in Wayne and Villanova, according to online real estate data company Attom Data Solutions, writes Max Bennett for patch.com.

Vacant homes are known as “zombies”.  In the United States, there are more than 1.52 million homes sitting empty. They represent 1.5 percent of all homes in the U.S., according to the report.

About 282,800 homes nationwide are in foreclosure, the report says, down 1.9 percent from the fourth quarter of 2019.  About 8,700 — or 3.1 percent — are sitting empty as “zombie” foreclosures.

The 61 empty homes in Wayne and Villanova represent .47 percent of homes in those communities.

Wayne has 47 “zombie” homes, making up 0.43 percent of homes.

Villanova has 14 vacant homes, which is 0.7 percent of all homes, according to the report.

Pennsylvania has 317 zombie homes.

Attom Data Solutions used county tax assessor data on more than 98 million single-family homes and condos from the first quarter of 2020, broken down by foreclosure and owner-occupancy status.

Attom Data Solutions analyzed metropolitan statistical areas with at least 100,000 single-family homes and condos, and counties with at least 50,000 single-family homes and condos.
