Hundreds of young scientists flocked to the Neumann University campus on March 4 to compete in the Southeastern PA Science Olympiad Tournament.

Students from more than 50 middle schools and high schools in Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties matched wits for medals in two age groups and for a place in the state competition on April 25.

Contest categories included Bag of Bones, Mousetrap Vehicle, Elastic-Launched Glider, and Ping Pong Parachute.

The Science Olympiad State Final Competition will be held at Juniata College on April 25.

The Science Olympiad is an international nonprofit organization devoted to improving the quality of science education, increasing student interest in science and providing recognition for outstanding achievement in science education.
