Granite Run, Ellis Preserve Make Philadelphia Business Journal’s List of Winning Deals This Year

Michael Markman, president of BET Investments Inc., has been named  “Dealmaker of the Year” by Philadelphia Business Journal for The Promenade at Granite Run, and for a new Media apartment complex, writes writes Natalie Kostelni for Philadelphia Business Journal.

Markman formed BET Investments with Bruce E. Toll in 1998.  The company owns 4,000 apartments and seven million square feet of retail and office space over 70 properties valued at $1.5 billion.

BET also took “Best Multifamily Real Estate Deals of the Year”, for redeveloping the struggling Granite Run Mall into the Promenade at Granite Run. When completed, there will be 400 apartments and 840,000 square feet of retail.

BET also built West End Flats, a 162-unit apartment complex on a car dealership in Media.

Shoppes at Ellis Preseve, from Equus Capital Partners, took “Best Suburban Retail” deal.

The 103,874 square-foot retail center is anchored by a Whole Foods and Firepoint Grill and was sold by Equus for $60 million.

The magazine also honored Jonas Skovdal of Cushman & Wakefield as a “Rising Start of the Year” for completing 1.5 million square feet of commercial real estate transactions, including two new warehouses in Eddystone.
