Drexel Hill made WalletHub’s top 10 list of communities nationwide that are paying down their debt, coming in ninth, reports the personal finance website.

Average credit card household debt in Drexel Hill in 2019 was $12,605, a decrease of $1,978 over the previous year. Total credit card debt in Drexel Hill dropped by $21,630,773, with Drexel Hill’s total credit card debt at $137,821,085 for 2019.

U.S. consumers racked up $77 billion in credit card debt during 2019, an all-time record high, according to the Credit Card Study.

WalletHub compared the amounts owed to credit card companies by people in more than 2,500 U.S. cities – specifically, how those balances changed in 2019.

“The best thing for people with credit card debt to do is make a plan. Determine the maximum amount that you can contribute to monthly debt payments and what your ETA to debt freedom will be as a result,” said WalletHub CEO Odysseas Papadimitriou.

More than one-third of people (37 percent) say they would do anything to get out of credit card debt.
