Equus Headquarters at Ellis Tract in Newtown Square Makes Use of Natural Wood for a Unique Design
The design reminds you of a barn with a rustic wooden theme, but the building on Ellis Preserve at 3843 West Chester Pike in Newtown Square is actually the headquarters for Equus Capital partners, writes Kennedy Rose for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
There are 25-foot-high vaulted ceilings in this 40,000 square-foot building. It uses 36,000 square feet of reclaimed wood and building artifacts from Berkshire Knitting Mills in Wyomisssing.
The office was designed by D2 Groups Architects and developed by BPG Development Company. IMC Construction was general contractor.
The architect group was inspired in its design by a pair of Mass Timber office buildings it is designing in Newtown Square and Wayne.
Equus’ headquarters has an indoor/outdoor employee cafe, including barbecue grills and bar seating.
It joins more than 50 other businesses on Newtown Square’s Ellis Preserve campus.
Ellis Preserve is a 213-acre mixed use community with shops, a gym and residential developments.
