Magazine Ranks Wawa Among Nation’s Top Convenience Stores
Wawa made Food & Wine Magazine’s top ranks in a list of best convenience stores in the country, writes Erin Caproni and Kennedy Rose for The Philadelphia Business Journal.
Our local favorite was No. 2 in the nation, topped only by Texas’ Buc-ees, known for large stores featuring barbecue and branded snacks.
Here’s what the publication had to say about Wawa:
“You’ll either make a ton of new friends or earn yourself a punch in the schnoz, but the fastest way to meet a lot of Philadelphians is to walk into a crowded room, and start asking: So, what’s the big deal with Wawa?” states Food & Wine’s review.
The magazine pointed out that Wawa was more than made-to-order sandwiches, coffee, house beers and breakfast sandwiches. It was also were community life happens.
“It’s where you run into everyone,” the magazine wrote.
It also talked about Wawa’s current store expansion with more than 850 stores from Northern New Jersey to South Florida.
Other Pennsylvania convenience stores that made the list were:
- Sheetz – Altoona, Pa.
- Rutter’s – York, Pa.
- Turkey Hill Minit Markets – Lancaster, Pa.
- GetGo – Pittsburgh, Pa.
