So what’s a peer executive group and what’s so great about joining one? Ask Gerry Frey, a co-founder of Priority Rental in Aston. His group of friends and fellow business owners have been meeting for more than eight years, writes Gene Marks for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Frey said his group helps him find the best talent, hold himself accountable, and let him focus on his core business while maintaining his work and life balance.
He believes a good executive group would benefit all business leaders “no matter what phase of their business life.”
Frey’s group is made up of well-educated individuals that operate with a strong work ethic and high level of integrity.
These small groups are normally comprised of local CEOs, business owners and leaders, who meet regularly to discuss professional and personal challenges in a confidential and informal setting.
Some, like Frey’s group, are formed organically. Many others are initiated through national groups such as Vistage International, Entrepreneur’s Organization, YPO and Peer Executive Groups.
Vistage alone boasts more than 22,000 members in 20 countries, and the Entrepreneur’s Organization has a global network of more than 14,000 members across 193 chapters worldwide.
