Seven National Night OUt Events in Delco Aug. 6 Focus on Safe Neighborhoods

Seven police departments in Delaware County are hosting events at this year’s annual National Night Out Aug. 6.

This community-building campaign, held the first Tuesday in August, promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie with the goal of making neighborhoods safer.

Events are planned at the following locations:

  • Upper Darby: 6 to 8 p.m., Upper Darby High School, 601 N. Lansdowne Ave, Drexel Hill;
  • Haverford: 6 to 9 p.m., Quarry Center, 116 W. Township Line Rd. Havertown;
  • Lansdowne: 6 to 8 p.m., N. Highland Ave., Municipal Lot, 26 N. Highland Ave., Lansdowne;
  • Marple: 5 to 8 p.m., Cardinal O’Hara High School, 1701 S. Sproul Rd., Springfield;
  • Springfield: 6 to 9 p.m., parking lot of the Springfield Country Club, 400 W Sproul Rd., Springfield;
  • Upland: 6 to 8:30 p.m., Bristol Lord Field, 6th & Main St., Upland;
  • Marcus Hook, 6 to 8 p.m., Market Square Park, 1015 Green St., Marcus Hook

The Delaware County Heroin Task Force’s Mobile Drug Collection Unit will collect expired and unwanted medications at each of the Night Out events.

National Night Out was founded in 1984 by Lower Merion resident and Town Watch volunteer Matt Peskin.
