The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board posted the results of its March auction for 25 new liquor licenses, with Wawa winning bids on two of them, writes Adam Hermann for PhillyVoice.

The Delco-based chain of convenience stores bid $186,357 for a liquor license in Philadelphia County and $160,357 for one in Middletown Township.

Wawa does not currently have any stores inside Middletown Township’s boundaries. The nearest is just outside the township.

Technically, Wawa has not yet been awarded the liquor licenses. The top bidders have two weeks from the date of each Notice of Selection to send the full bid payment to the PLCB. Then each auction winner must file a license application with the PLCB within six months.

Currently, Wawa sells alcohol in more than 100 locations in mostly Virginia and Florida, but only one location in Pennsylvania, in Chadds Ford.
