Coatesville is getting a new public amphitheater for community events, courtesy of Catalyst Experiential, an advertising company based in Newtown Square, writes Jacob Adelman for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

In exchange, Catalyst Experiential’s owner and outdoor advertising veteran, Thaddeus Bartkowski, will get the right to broadcast ads on three big screens facing the busy corner of Lincoln Highway and First Avenue.

The site will have grass terraces that can seat up to 200 people and a separate building with public restrooms. These will be funded by the project’s advertising revenue.

The new Coatesville amphitheater is the first project the company is planning for nearby towns. They range from a police station to a fancy dog park, all featuring digital billboards.

Bartkowski’s said he wants to “create a use that the people that live and work in that municipality want and would benefit from.”

According to Michael Trio, Coatesville’s city manager, city officials have long wanted to offer residents a better meeting place for local events at the grassy plot where the venue is planned. But there were never enough funds to do it.

“We’re working very hard to keep costs low,” said Trio. “We have to be a little more out-of-the-box here.”
