Foundation for Delaware County Welcomes New CFO

The Foundation for Delaware County has hired Laura DeFlavia as its chief financial officer. In this new position, DeFlavia will oversee all financial operations of the rapidly growing foundation.

“We are excited that Laura is joining The Foundation for Delaware County,” said Frances Sheehan, President of The Foundation for Delaware County. “We are committed to achieving full accreditation as a community foundation from the Council on Foundations. Laura’s experience in public accounting serving various industries, including nonprofits, retail, service organizations, and government entities, as well as her expertise in investment oversight, will be critical in this accreditation process and the foundation’s continued growth.”

DeFlavia recently served as the Controller for the Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation for 13 years. At PAHWF, she managed $82 million of foundation investments and $56 million of investments for its defined benefit pension plan.

A public charity founded in 2016, The Foundation for Delaware County is the largest philanthropy serving Delaware County. Operating as the county’s community foundation, it is headquartered in Media with service sites in Chester, Upper Darby, and Springfield.

Last year the foundation made nearly $1.5 million in grants to improve the health and quality of life for the diverse residents of this thriving county.
