Work has started on The Refectory, the first restaurant on the campus of Villanova University, writes Kenneth Hilario for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The sophisticated, yet casual restaurant is expected to open in August in partnership with Greg Dodge of Zavino Hospitality Group.

The new eatery will have more than 200 seats, offer “elevated” American classic dishes, and serve alcohol. It will be located at The Commons on the corner of Lancaster and Ithan avenues, next to Villanova’s forthcoming Performing Arts Center.

In addition to the main dining area, the new establishment will have an 18-seat bar area and a private vault room for parties and special chef tastings.

“The Refectory is an exciting addition to our campus,” said Rev. Peter M. Donohue, Villanova’s president. “Villanova is proud to partner with Greg Dodge and Zavino Hospitality Group on our first full-service restaurant.”
