Springfield-Based SageLife Eyes Location for Its First Senior Living Community in New York
Springfield-based SageLife is eying a location for its first senior-living project in the state of New York, writes Brian Nearing for The Albany Times Union.
SageLife is planning to develop a 200-unit housing project on around eight acres on a property in Latham, N.Y. Meanwhile, Burke Companies plans to add 30,000 square feet for retail and restaurants.
Last month, the developers filed a request with the Town Board to have the project considered a planned development district under town law. The request was approved by the board, with the review being forwarded to the Planning Board.
“We are thrilled to have SageLife on this,” said Tom Burke, president of Burke Companies. “They are a high-quality operation.”
SageLife currently operates nine independent and assisted living and memory care facilities in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey. Plans for the proposed facility envision a single building with 108 independent and 92 assisted living units with parking underneath.
There will also be a “large open piazza for outdoor dining, recreation, light entertainment, cultural events, and community space,” according to the request letter sent to Town Supervisor Paula Mahan.
