ESPN: Ryan Howard ‘Changes Uniforms,’ Invests in Blossoming Sports Gambling Industry

By

Following his retirement from baseball two years ago, former Phillies slugger Ryan Howard has turned his full attention to investing, writes David Purdum for ESPN.com.

Today, Howard is a partner at SeventySix Capital, the venture capital firm focused on opportunities in a sports betting market that is blossoming all over the country.

The Conshohocken-based firm that originated in Radnor recently invested in the Vegas Stats & Information Network. This media outlet features renowned broadcaster Brent Musburger, as well as a studio placed right in the middle of a Las Vegas casino.

While the betting field is new to him, Howard sees incredible potential in it.

“I never gambled, but being out in the business world and changing uniforms, looking at it now, the opportunities are endless,” he said.

However, he admits that sports betting has its own set of challenges.

“I think MLB and all the other leagues are going to try to help regulate it the best way they can, but it’s going to fall on the players to try to continue to protect the integrity of the game,” he said.
