Thousands of people gathered at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester on Saturday to enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes of Chesterfest 2018, writes Kathleen Carey for the Daily Times.

“The important thing about having it each year is to bring the community and families together and to just show the positive side of our city, to show the culture and the talent that we have,” said Chester Mayor Thaddeus Kirkland.

Chesterfest is hosted by Kirkland and City Council. It provides an opportunity for artists from Chester and the surrounding areas to showcase their works, no matter if their field of expertise is oil paints, performance, or the culinary arts.

The seven-hour event has been held annually for the last 13 years. This year, around 12,000 people attended the event throughout the day.

The event culminated with a fireworks extravaganza on the riverfront.
