Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino and Racetrack in Chester is one of three casinos statewide awarded an online gaming license by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, writes Alex Rose for the Daily Times.

The Interactive Gaming Certificate was awarded to Harrah’s operator, Chester Downs and Marina.

“Once it’s up and running, anyone can establish an account online,” said PGCB spokesman Doug Harbach. “They can do it in the casino, but they can also establish an account online and they can participate in any casino game – table games, slots, and even peer-to-peer poker.”

According to Harbach, the service is only available to state residents who are 21 years or older.

Of the 13 casinos in Pennsylvania, the PGCB has received applications for certificates from 11 of them. Casinos can apply for non-peer-to-peer table games, non-peer-to-peer slots, or peer-to-peer poker licenses separately for $4 million each. Alternatively, they have the option of paying $10 million for all three.

The state has also implemented a tax of 54 percent on gross online revenues for slots, as well as 16 percent on table games.
