Aston Township to Receive $1 Million from State for New Firehouse

By

Aston Township will receive a $1 million grant through the state’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program to renovate and expand its firehouse, according to a report in the Daily Times.

The current Green Ridge Firehouse on Dutton Mill Road was built three decades ago. The funding from the grant will be used to renovate the 5,250-square-foot facility, as well as construct a 15,430-square-foot addition.

The new firehouse will have six fire truck bays and two emergency medical services bays, along with office space, meeting rooms, and bunk rooms. It will also include a recreation room and space for storage and equipment.

Sean Joyce, president of the Aston Township Fire Department, said the goal of the department is simple.

“Our new station will allow us to explore new training opportunities, as well as give us the resources necessary to do this well into the future,” he said.
