Delaware County Home to Three of State’s Top 10 Private High Schools

Delaware County is home to three of the Top 10 private high schools in Pennsylvania, according to the latest rankings published by Niche.com, writes Teresa Bonner for the Harrisburg Patriot-News.

Niche.com based its rankings on a rigorous analysis of U.S. Department of Education data, test scores, and college data. The rankings also include ratings from millions of online users, along with data from schools.

The Haverford School checked in at No. 2, behind only Germantown Friends. The all-boys school on Lancaster Avenue graduates 100 percent of its students, who score an average of 1330 on the SATs.

The Episcopal Academy is No. 4. The co-ed school in Newtown Square has a student/teacher ratio of 7 to 1 and its students boast an average SAT score of 1340.

The Agnes Irwin School in Rosemont is No. 7. Founded in 1869 by Agnes Irwin, the great-great-granddaughter of Benjamin Franklin, the all-girls school has a student/teacher ratio of 7 to 1 with 100 percent of its graduates going on to four-year colleges.
